is the treatment of women in the middle related to the teachings of Muhammad, or is it the fear of western dominance to give more power to ALL people? So therefore brings us to the abuse of certain verses in the Quran, so is that why women are oppressed?please reply....

Dear sisters in the Moslem faith, How I envy you that you are all fully clothed, wearing your veil, your inner beauties well-hidden from the men's eyes, in that you may be preserved only for your loved one.....here, in my country, a pro-democractic one at that, where there is freedom and practice of religion, women are hazardly exposed to PUBLIC VIEW because of the whims and caprices of their men-folk, and I, for one, though a humble Christian, would profoundly desire to wear even if just a simple veil, to shroud my humanity, safe from the lewd and peering eyes of men who do not want to practice our religion, and pervert nature's ways by inculcating all the vicious and wicked ways of the West....!!! You are, indeed, so fortunate if RADICAL MODERNISM DO NOT TOUCH YOUR SHORES, because here, in my country, Western influences have marred our national culture so much, that sometimes, I wish that my Catholic religion would be able to impose stricter rules and regulations for men and women alike, so as not to be badly inlfluenced by untraditional customs, etc. that I cannot even call my own.....so be it.

peace stefania
You see the muslims have to follow the divine laws set by God above anything...and when you truly understand islam properly you'll realise why muslims are so devoted to follow strictly...its beacuse we feel the truth with our hearts and the beuty and purity of it.
Even at the time of prphet jesus peace be upon him...women covered...as you may see in films whent hey protray the time of jesus...now jesus was a messenger brining you to the right path...if you deviate from that path obviously you are not following his mesage...and thus a price has to be paid.

TEXT THANK-YOU FOR REMINDING ME OF HELL-FIRE HELL, of course, is the opposite of PARADISE. My oldest son often chides and even, scolds me, NOT TO FOLLOW THE FASHION, which is, really, VERY MODERN here in our cities.

:oPlz define "repressed". Look at western women---they work full time, go home exhausted and take over the house work and rearing of kids---so what can we say about treatment of women in west? that they are taken advantage of, treated as though they're doormats? If a muslim woman is treated correctly according to Islam, if she works she keeps her money and does what she wishes with it, she's not required to do housework, her husband is not allowed to beat her, if she is divorced her family will take care of her, not leaving her to go on welfare. So, i'm asking u, who are the real repressed women? TEXT

to STEFANIA2004 --why don;t u start a trend in dressing modestly---it is your right isn;t it, as a human to protect your modesty? By dressing modestly u are sending a signal to men that u are to be taken seriously and respected and not treated as a sex object, don;t let the western lack of morality penetrate your society----fight back!

why shoud western women do that??? Western women enjoy sex and like looking sexy,,,, just as western men like sex and try to look appieling also. The truth is 95% of your women are butt ugly and have to cover themselves ;D Sex is the one thing people can enjoy that is free and a god givin ability to do so. Its Funny people from poor countries would hide the one thing of enjoyment they have that is free. Its great to be able to see the beauties that god created and appreciate them for showing that beauty here in the west. If you tried showing more things of beauty instead of covering them up then maybe your country would not appear to look so ugly

;Dwhat u really mean dangel is that u as a man want to see women half dressed for your own purposes. You don;t seem to have respect for a woman for anything other than a sex object. This is the beauty of women wearing hijab, covering themselves, they can be respected in the job field and in general dealings with people rather than being looked at as something to play with and dispose of.

lol, this is bulls-hit. I respect a person for how they carry themselves and act with others,,, not by how they look or how big there boobs are. And when did finding a person of the opposite sex attractive to look at become just a man thing? It works both ways. The truth is middle eastern men are selfish and disrespectful to there women with a lame excuse that you all believe. For one thing,, making them cover up like that is a selfish act of bondage and strictly a one sided deal. A woman should be respected and trusted by her man to walk outside and not respond to attemts from other men. The men don't cover up,, you know why?? Because they are out looking for wife number 8,,,, ahhhh haaaa haaaaa haaaaa,,,,,,, real respect there isn't it? Where is the respect in telling wife number 2 that you will be screwing wife number 4 and 5 tonight so don't come in my room?,,, and cover your ass up while i'm doing it so you don't become another muslims wife ,,,,, heh heh,,,, yep,, we are really disrespectful here in the west not giving our 1 wife 5 playmates to share her man with arn't we. Here is a pic of an Islamic woman whos arm was showing to much through her robe=commen practice to whip them with a green branch from a tree. Get real,,

Its funny what happens when you trust the biased, corrupt media of the US.
Never judge Islam by Muslims, but rather judge Muslims by Islam. Is what they are doing Islamic? No. So is it fair to stereotype a whole religion and/or country because of some people's wrong acts? No.
Hijab is not a "self-fish act of bondage." It is a source of protection from lustful eyes, and it ensures our modesty.
If you're going to talk about a religion, culture, practice, etc..make sure you get your info from valid sources. Half of the things you said are either non-Islamic, fabricated, exagerated, or common mis-conceptions.

Ameena, I hope that you are not referring to me your remarks about this so-called "American Media"...I am NOT a member of any kind of form of AMERICAN MEDIA, but I am a writer as of profession, but a free-lancer at that, meaning, I choose my work outlets, and my bosses as well. I am a Filipina, and am not associated with any American company of any kind, and I EXPRESS my thoughts and points of view at will, as I DEEM FIT, because I TRULY BELIEVE THAT TO BE A GOOD JOURNALIST, one must be honest, sincere and most truthful, so reporting half-baked truths is very unjust and non-professional. I have told you some bits of news that I HAVE NOT YET WRITTEN ABOUT IN MY COUNTRY's local media, like our newspaper dailies, magazines, and even television and radio stations. Did you know, that even after our great but peaceful EDSA REVOLUTIONS 1 and 2, so many Filipino journalists are getting shot and killed, because they write about, and publish, commentaries on graft and corruption, etc.? And my country, the Philippines, is a pro-democracy, and a Christian country at that! Well, good-luck to you.....for the first time in 32 years, my family and a lot of us are enjoying a period of relative peace, which we have not had for a long, long time..... ALLAH LOVES.
