asalamu alaikum,
I am muslim convert and I have a question. In my studies I read the prophet (pbuh) said accursed is the tattooer and the one tattoed. what does this mean. I ask because I have tattoes but I did not know of this before coming to islam. Can I still make hajj being that these tattoos will show while wearing traditional pilgrim garb?

Please ask not here. You should ask local Muslim scholar if there is any. Otherwise, please contact websites with authentic contents. You may have done that already, I am just reminding. Dont believe any one on the web and forums. I am sorry if you are not looking for this reply. Also, I have read that Hadith but I will not comment on it on my own.

...dont worry, go for Haji and Umra and allway remember the saying of the Prophet p.b.u.h. who said something like this: Islam is very easy. The wrong thinks we have done before we converted to Islam should not affect our life as Muslims. Let me advice you: Keep away from the heavy loaden scholars of today. Search for nothing but for the truth and ask Allah Karim for guidance. Follow the Quran and the Sunnah and dont care about sins and mistakes you performed before you became a Muslim, just dont repeat them-.

salam brother
mabrook on reverting. about tattoos... best if you have them lasered off or w/e because bascially tattoos do not let water penatrate the actualy skin therefore rendering wudhu as incomplete. i would advise you to consult a scholar. all the best,
ma'salama
